Health Insurance:

Insurance and Managed Care

Until December of 2022, I will participate with select CareFirst/BCBS plans, and participate with LyraHealth EAP plans at least until January 2023. For all other insurance companies (e.g., Aetna, United, MetLife), I can assist in your submission of service claims after payment for services. I will furnish a receipt or superbill upon request, which can be printed at the end of the session or sent via e-mail. If you decide use insurance, I recommend that you call your company to determine whether I am an in-network provider, the number of visits for which you are eligible, your required co-pay and deductible, and complete pre-authorization requirements. Keep in mind that your insurance company will require you to authorize that I provide a clinical diagnosis at the end of each session. Questions you may ask include the following:

·      Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

·      What percentage of the fee will my insurance company cover?

·      Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

·      Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

·      Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

While you will be responsible for payment of the session whether or not your insurance decides to cover the session, we can discuss an appropriate payment plan if finances become a hardship. Keep in mind that your insurance company will require you to authorize that a clinical diagnosis is provided at the end of each session.
